COVID RETURNS: J&K reports 432 fresh cases, one death in 24 hours

‘Srinagar registers spike of 147 cases'

Srinagar, Jul 20 (KNO): Jammu and Kashmir Wednesday reported 434 fresh cases of Covid-19, pushing the number of active cases to 1724 besides that one death was reported in the last 24 hours taking the death toll to 4761. An official told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that among 434 new cases, 186 belong to Kashmir division while as 248 to Jammu division. He said that the total number of positive cases in Kashmir have reached to 289,230 including 286,077 recoveries and 2,425 deaths, while total number of positive cases in Jammu division have reached to 168,721 including 165,389 recoveries and 2,336 deaths. He further said that the total number of active cases in Jammu and Kashmir are 1724 including 728 from Kashmir division and 996 from Jammu division. With 111 more recoveries, the tally of total recoveries in J&K has reached to 451,466 which is 98.6 percent of the total cases. “Among the fresh 434 cases today, 147 are from Srinagar, 16 from Baramulla, 11 from Budgam, 04 from Kupwara, 03 from Ganderbal, 02 each from Pulwama and Bandipora and one from Shopian in Kashmir division while 248 are from Jammu division that include 154 from Jammu district, 19 from Udhampur, 06 from Samba, 3 from Kuthua , 06 from Rajouri, 06 from Kishtwar, 08 from Poonch and 09 from Ramban,” said the official. As per the daily information bulletin 6,598,125 persons in J&K are under observation while 321 persons have been kept under home quarantine besides 1724 persons are in isolation. According to the bulletin, 6,590,892 persons have completed the surveillance period and 427 persons are under home surveillance besides so far results of 25,973,541 samples are available. “Out of 25,973,541 the number of samples tested negative stands at 25,515,590 while 457,951 have tested positive, among them 1724 cases are active, 451,466 have recovered and 4,761 persons have died,” it added—(KNO)
